1. If you are looking for complexity you will probably find it.
   Most people simply want to get their goods delivered on time and in full at a competitive cost. All the rest is just detail or justification for more cost.
2. Logistics operators will talk of the vast amounts spent on software including such things as tracking. Yes it's important but it's not enough. Better to deploy equipment, people and systems to do the job right in the first place.
3. By the 1940's we moved product via Trucks, Trains, Ships, Planes and Pipeline.

We now have bigger, faster, more efficient models but the fundamentals remain.
